Chapter 34 of Shugo Chara is now out in this month’s Nakayoshi. People who were disappointed with Chapter 33 and it’s lack of action, might like this one a bit better. Even though it doesn’t move a hell of a lot further in the quest to save Ikuto plot, it does resolve the problems of another character, which now pretty much confirms the final battle in  the Shugo Chara! manga is coming up soon.

As everyone probably knows by now, the preview chapter that Nakayoshi’s website released last week, showed Rima finding out about Trap-kun’s little secret, by eavesdropping in on him and Nobuko Saeki talking about it.

Now based on the last panel of the preview, a lot of people though that Nagihiko was going to get mad at Rima. However he just responded in his usual polite way. I also think he said something to her about his eggs since he’s holding them out.

Up ahead, a girl (probably an Easter employee) with a group of x-eggs tries to slow down, Amu and the guardians. Amu thinks she should stay and fight the x-eggs. But Rima transforms before her. Rima tells Amu to go on and save her man. (Well no she doesn’t say that, but that’s the basic premise). Amu, Yaya, and Tadase continue to climb the staircase, but Nagihiko stays back to help Rima.

..And with this image we can officially say that Rimahiko is  a canon pairing. I’m perfectly alright with that since it’s my third favorite pairing in the series. (Kutau is number 2 and Amuto is number one). It seems that the x-eggs started to attack with basketballs (do I even want to ask? -_-), and Nagihiko stopped them from hitting Rima.

It seems that Kukai isn’t only athlete in the series. Apperently, when he was a little boy, Nagihiko used to play basketball a lot. Together, he and Rima fight the x-eggs.

I don’t have scans for this, but up on the roof, Ikuto collapses, tired from all the egg collecting and violin playing he has done lately. However, Evil Stepdad could care less, and makes him continue. Of course this makes Evil Stepdad, even more hated by Ikuto’s many fangirls. I don’t care who Gozen so is. The real villain of this series will always be Evil Stepdad, both in the anime and the manga. Gozen has a chance to be redeemed, but Evil Stepdad will probably never be redeemed. Edit: I did manage to find a scan of ikuto and Evil Stepdad, which is above image.

Meanwhile, back with Rima and Nagihiko, his 2nd egg hatched revealing Rizumu, Nagihiko’s new chara. Rizumu is supposed to be Nagihiko wish to be like a normal boy, I guess.

Nagihiko and Rizumu chara-nari, to become Vit-Jumper (at least that’s what everyone’s calling the chara-nari). Much like Sky Jack attacks with soccor balls, it seems Vit Jumper uses basketballs and dunks.

After the x-eggs are destroyed, Nagihiko hears the concerns of the girl who attacked them, and remembering what life was like when he had to act like a girl, sympathizes. This causes Temari to rehatch. Temari and Rizumu trade places and..

..Nagihiko gets his 2nd chara-nari Yamoto Maihime.

Rima and Nagihiko use the power of lovean attack called Queen’s Waltz to purify the remaining x-eggs together. (hmm…after seeing this I hope Peach-Pit makes more combination attacks. Especially an Amuto one).

Aww~! Seeing Nagihiko reunited with Temeri and meeting Rizumu for the first time is cute. It also solves the question of “Wait, if the Ikuto arc is the final battle, how are they going to resolve Nagihiko’s problems?” Well now it’s been resolved, so all that’s left, is bring back Ikuto, finding out who Gozen is, and finding Embryo.

The enmity these two had for each other in chapter 30 and at the start of this chapter seems to have disappeared. They look really adorable together especially with the little blushes and smiles. Especially from Rima, a girl who barely ever smiles. Good, because after Ikuto, Rima deserves happiness in her crappy life the most in Shugo Chara!.

Meanwhile, Amu, Tadase and Yaya, have reached the top only to be greeted by a huge monster! Of course this is the cliffhanger they use for the next chapter. There are a lot of theories going around about what it is, from Ikuto to Tadase’s dog, Betty. I thought Ikuto at first, but now I’m not so sure looking at the top left panel.

All and all this was a good chapter. It resolved some issues and gave some romantic development in a relationship besides one of Amu’s. I’m also intrigued to see how the monster issue will play out next week. I’m still hoping Kairi, Kukai and Utau will show up to help with the fight. Also, I have feeling Shugo Chara! is going to end in another volume or two. If it ends around next May or June, then Satelight should be able to animate the end of the manga properly.
