As many of you, probably know ShugoChara! left off at a very dramatic part last month. I’m pleased to announce that the next chapter is out, but it doesn’t answer very many question if any, and it’s still filler until the big battle. However it does focus on a character again, and the character this time is Yaya.

One more thing. For anyone that’s interested it looks like they’ll be selling the key chains of Ikuto, Rima, Utau, Tadase, Amu and X-egg Dia that the adervise soon. I think in January. So anyone that wants one should start looking for preorders soon.

At the end of chapter 34, Tadase, Amu and Yaya were confronted with a doglike beast. Tadase prepares to attack it.

Before he can do anything though, Yaya chara-nari’s with Pepe and says she’ll take care of it. Tadase and Amu don’t really seem to believe her however, which given her performances in previous battles they’re probably right. Yaya attacks the beast with her duckies.

However the beast uses her duckies as a chew toy. –;

Ikuto is still being forced to play the violin by Evil Stepdad. Also I have a feeling that Evil Stepdad knew that Tadase and Amu would hear the music when they were fighting the dog beast, would worry about Ikuto and not be able to fight as well because they were distract. Asshole. (Yep I’m not biased at all.)

Amu tries to fight the beast using the heart rod, but fails. Tadase tries to create a shield to protect them using his spetar , but struggles to hold it up.

Yaya calls out to them, but they tell her to stay back and stay safe (I think). Yaya watches them, closes her eyes and opens them with a determined face.

Yaya stands in front of Tadase and Amu. She tells them something with a shaky voice. I think it’s related to not wanting to be protected by others anymore and wanting to stand on her own two feet. Tadase and Amu are shocked. Yaya uses her baby mobile attack to confuse the beast, causing it to play.

Then she pushes it back with her duckie attack. I think she tells Tadase and Amu to go on ahead without her. Feathers start falling from the sky. Amu looks up to see..

I have mixed feelings about this chapter. On the one hand it was nice to see another side of Yaya. I’ve never been a big fan of Yaya and found her whiny and childish in episode 31/chapter 19 especially. With this chapter and chapter 33 however I like her a bit better. Also Yaya seemed really brave when you think about. I mean, her attacks aren’t exactly the strongest, yet she still went head to head with the beast knowing it’s what she needed to do so Tadase and Amu can go save Ikuto. She’s come a long way from the girl who was upset about her baby brother taking attention away from her. Characters gaining maturity in a series is always good. Also it’s good that Utau seems to be back in the manga after being absent for the last chapters. Hopefully Peach-Pit will add in Kairi and Kukai in the coming chapters too, for the final battle that is probably going to happen soon. But on the other hand it was disappointing. I was hoping that the beast would be a taken care of in the first few pages so Amu could finally reached the top of the stairs to save Ikuto. It looks like we’ll have to wait another chapter or two for that. I wish Peach-Pit would have developed the other characters in early chapters so the rescue mission would be uninterrupted for character growth sessions, but it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen anytime soon.

I’m excited for the next chapter. Even though Shugo Chara Doki is a disappointment, I’m glad the manga is still good. I really can’t wait until they animate this part of the manga.
